Our Story

Jerome and I each own a couple of properties in Metro Manila, The Philippines and had started renting them out on Air B&B in 2015. Soon we each faced different challenges with managing our property individually. Jerome got busy with setting up a new IT venture and was not able to take time out to meet guests for check-in / check-out, organise cleaning and to market his properties to maximise occupancy. I travel frequently and was about to return home to live 6,200 kilometres away in Sydney. I wanted to find a way to maintain the higher yield of short-term rental rather than resorting to standard rental contact, which would make barely enough to cover interest on mortgage. I also needed to find someone I trust to tend to the administration of my properties.

Over a number of parties and one too many drinks, we thought that there might be property owners out there who face the same challenges. We started speaking to our friends and acquaintances and realised that many were either leaving their properties empty for extended period of time while they look for a tenant or they accepted lower rental yield just to get a tenant into the property. Jerome and I then decided that we should set up GoodRent to help look after our friends and families’ properties and to help them generate more rental income.
